A: I wear them when I want to go outside. I can put them on and take them off all by myself. I even put them away in the shoe closet most of the time.
C: Shoes are life! That was my second word, though I also know the sign for shoes. I want them on immediately upon waking and they stay on all day. Occasionally, I will unfasten them, but I definitely still want them on. If I see your shoes, I will bring them to you and insist that you too, put on shoes.
A: Books are life! I LOVE to read!! I love going to the library to pick out new books. Elephant and Piggy are my favorite characters. Pretty much nothing can interrupt me from reading a new book. I can read to Camille and I have done it a few times, but she really prefers to hear it from Mommy.
C: Books are ok. They're not the best toy. I've ripped two. (Daddy Hugs and Goodnight Moon are a two-part series now.) I like to turn the pages. You know what is really fun? Taking books off the bookshelf in the living room. These are boring books with no pictures, though. [UPDATE: I started writing this post at the end of October and between then and now, Camille had developed an interest in books. She will bring me a book and want to sit in my lap as I read it. She can even "read" Peek-A-Who, making the sounds with each page.]
A: This is a great time to play. I'm starting to lean about saying excuse me while Mommy and Daddy are talking. I'm a pretty good eater. I always ask if Mommy is eating something non-dairy because I always want to try it.
C: This is a great time to explore the textures of food in my hair. I can eat with a spoon now (I'm pretty proud of myself). I'm a pretty good eater too. I always want to eat what Mommy is eating.
A: when I was little, I barely got into anything. Here is the one picture of me getting into stuff. I found some olive oil.
C: I'm trying to explore every nook and cranny and open every drawer and cabinet. I also feel I must empty their contents. I'm starting to have my favorites. The cabinets with the bread machine and waffle maker are pretty boring, but the one with the baking supplies is awesome! Doesn't everyone carry a bottle of vanilla and some cupcake liners around the house?
A: At 17 months, I had just taken my first steps, but I didn't start walking around until I was 18 months. Now I love to run and dance and climb and balance on furniture arms.
C: I've been walking since 15 months. I can walk really really fast, but I can't run yet. I can walk backwards and take side steps. I also love to climb! I would love to be able to climb onto the couch, but so far, I can only make it to the top of the ottoman. And the kitchen table if Annique's chair is accessible!
Another thing a mom of more than one can observe is the relationship the kids have with each other. They are playing together a bit and it is wonderful. Can't want to see what else these girls do!
